Review: YOU'RE NEXT (2013)
Despite the weak start, YOU'RE NEXT gradually builds along with Sharni Vinson's breakthrough performance and some sly twists within the typical home-invasion genre.

Review: RIGOR MORTIS 殭屍 (2013)

Slow pace aside, RIGOR MORTIS is beautifully atmospheric and spookily violent Hong Kong vampire movie.

Review: ODD THOMAS (2013)

Anton Yelchin and Addison Timlin are amazing, but the movie itself fails to live up its supernatural quirkiness above mediocrity.

Review: SPECIAL ID 特殊身份 (2013)

There are few worthwhile action scenes, but not enough to overcome the movie's poor storyline, bad acting and amateurish direction.

Review: ESCAPE PLAN (2013)

While the action is mediocre, ESCAPE PLAN manages to be different than your average Stallone/Schwarzenegger action-movie vehicles: a thinking man's prison thriller blessed with a clever script.

Review: VIKINGDOM (2013)

As bland as Dominic Purcell's wooden performance, VIKINGDOM is a cheap-looking B-grade trashy epic best suited for direct-to-DVD release.

Review: KL GANGSTER 2 (2013)

While KL GANGSTER 2 delivers some of the best and most visceral fight sequences ever seen in a local movie, the plot still plays out like a parody of the gangster genre.

Sunday, 6 October 2013

Energetic direction and elaborately-staged action sequences are the hallmarks of this worthy prequel, but the mystery plot this time is less engaging than the first movie.

Review: INFERNO 逃出生天 (2013)

Despite the engaging premise and A-list cast, INFERNO is an uneven HK disaster-movie blockbuster suffers from a clumsy script, sloppy directions and spotty special effects.

Review: GRAVITY (2013)

GRAVITY is a near-perfect masterpiece that qualifies as among the most stunning space movie ever made since Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY.
