TRIVISA Won Five Statuettes At The 36th Hong Kong Film Awards

The winners of tonight's 36th Hong Kong Film Awards (HKFA) were finally announced at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui. Despite leading the most nominations with 12 awards, Derek Tsang's acclaimed coming-of-age romantic drama SOUL MATE only managed to walk home one technical award with Peter Kam and Yusuke Hatano winning for Best Original Film Score. COLD WAR 2, the second most-nominated movie for this year's HKFA with 10 awards, suffered the same fate like SOUL MATE with just one award win. And that win went to Kinson Tsang and George Lee Yiu Keung for Best Sound Design.

However, the biggest winner of the night turned out to be TRIVISA, which won a total of 5 awards including Best Film, Best Director (Frank Hui, Jevons Au and Vicky Wong), Best Actor (Lam Ka-Tung), Best Screenplay and Best Film Editing. It was also particularly a memorable night for veteran character actor Lam Ka-Tung who finally earned his first HKFA win for Best Actor. He was previously a three-time HKFA nominee beginning with DANCE OF A DREAM (2002), IP MAN (2009) and COLD WAR (2013).

Desmond Doss (Andrew Garfield) menyertai tentera pada Perang Dunia ke-2 tetapi kerana pegangan agama Seventh Day Adventist sangat kuat, dia enggan mengangkat senjata atau membunuh musuh. Sikapnya memberi masalah kepada ketua latihan tentera Kapten Glover (Sam Worthington) & Sarjan Howell (Vince Vaughn) membuatkan dia sering dibuli dan dijadikan bahan jenaka sehingga terpaksa dibicarakan di Mahkamah Tentera. Doss ditugaskan menjadi Tentera Perubatan dibawah 77th Infantry Division sewaktu Battle of Okinawa. Dalam satu serangan mengejut Tentera Jepun, Doss tidak berundur dan menyelamatkan rakan-rakan seperjuangannya yang cedera di medan perang.

Based on a true story, HACKSAW RIDGE follows a Seventh Day Adventist and conscientious objector Desmond Doss (Andrew Garfield), who joins the US army to serve as a WWII medic. But unlike his fellow army recruits, Doss refuses to touch or carry a gun as a result of his strong religious faith. Still, he subsequently emerges as a pacifist hero when he manages to rescue 75 wounded soldiers during the Battle of Okinawa without firing a single shot.

Famous Chinese archaeology professor Jack (Jackie Chan) join forces with a beautiful Indian professor Ashmita (Disha Patani) to locate the lost treasure of the Magadha kingdom. Also joining the expedition are Jack's assistants, Xiaoguang (Zhang Yixing) and Nuomin (Miya Muqi) alongside treasure hunter Jones (Aarif Rahman). Trouble arises when their first stop at the Kunlun Mountains is being ambushed by Randall (Sonu Sood) and his henchmen. A series of action-comedy hijinks ensues as their subsequent adventures brought them from China to Dubai and finally India.
